CRM Manager
Are you ready to shape the future of how Australia eats?
We believe great food should fit your schedule, not the other way around. That’s why Marley Spoon offers versatile meal solutions for all-day moments, delivering thousands of orders across Australia each week. Whether it's a quick lunch or a delicious dinner, our passionate team is here to help you own the kitchen, 24/7.
We’re looking for an experienced CRM Manager to own CRM for Marley Spoon and Dinnerly in Australia. This is a hands-on role with big local targets. You’ll move seamlessly between strategy and creative execution, turning CRM into an always-on retail channel that gets customers buying from our range faster and more often through cut-through, fit-for-channel assets. You’ll set the strategy, own the calendar, write the creative briefs and the sends, and be accountable for the results.
You won’t just run campaigns. You’ll be the CRM expert in our Australian team and think like a retailer, putting the right recipes, add-ons and offers in front of the right customer at the right time, and proving the impact on orders, basket size and revenue.
We’re building an AI-first CRM function, and we want you to lead it. You’ll question why things are done the way they are and rebuild them with AI at the core.
The Opportunity
CRM Strategy & Targets: Own the Australian CRM strategy and targets across Marley Spoon and Dinnerly, from conversion to first order and repeat purchase through to retention and win-back. You’re accountable for the numbers, not just the comms.
AI-First CRM: Lead how we use AI across Australian CRM, from copy, content and personalisation to segmentation, testing and reporting. Build and test new tools and workflows quickly, and scale what works.
CRM Calendar Ownership: Own the CRM calendar across email, push, SMS and in-app, built around our menu, new recipes, dietary focuses, add-ons, seasonal moments and key retail events, alongside brand campaigns and promotions. Create an always-on rhythm of selling from the range, and decide what goes out, to whom and when.
Creative Briefing & Best Practice Work closely with the in-house creative team to deliver clear, comprehensive briefs for the creation of fit-for-channel assets, observing technical guardrails, competitor best practice and offering creative inspiration for the team to deliver against. Provide clear creative feedback and manage feedback from stakeholders to guide the production of targeted, cut-through CRM creative.
Merchandising & Basket Growth: Merchandise recipes, add-ons and Market products in every send to drive faster first and repeat orders, higher order value and stronger attach rates.
Copy & Content: Write campaign and asset copy end to end, using AI tools and our brand voice guidelines to produce near-final copy at speed. Collaborate with the creative team including copywriters, content managers and graphic designers to brief the creation of copy assets as needed and ensure the quality of comms remains high across a high volume of sends.
Segmentation & Targeting: Partner with our CRM Analyst to turn customer data into meaningful audiences based on behaviour, lifecycle stage, tenure, order frequency and churn risk. Drive the segmentation strategy to ensure personalisation of communications is central to creating targeted, relevant comms for all lifecycle stages and consumer interests.
Test & Learn: Run a structured experimentation programme across offers, content, subject lines, timing and audiences, with clear hypotheses and holdouts that measure true incremental impact.
Performance & Reporting: Own CRM reporting for Australia, including revenue per send, order value and add-on attach rate, and turn results into clear recommendations on what to scale, fix or stop.
Automation Roadmap: Identify repeatable retail moments and one-off sends that should become always-on journeys, build the business case and direct our global lifecycle team to build them. Make sure global journeys work for Australian customers.
Contact Strategy & Governance: Manage frequency, consent, list health and deliverability, protecting margin and engagement as send volume grows, in line with the Spam Act and ACMA requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Brand, Revenue Management, Culinary, Growth and Customer Care locally, and with CRM colleagues in Europe and the US.
Customer Advocacy: Champion the voice of the customer, making sure every message earns its place in their inbox.
What we’re looking for:
You’ll thrive in this role if you bring proven commercial experience and a strong profitability orientation over both the short and long term, and can turn creative ideas into engaging assets that convert. You’re action-oriented and take on tough challenges with urgency and energy. You’re comfortable being the CRM expert in the room, owning a number and making it all come together without a big team around you.
You’re AI-first by default, quick to try new tools and build your own workflows, and you move fast from idea to test to result.
This role collaborates closely with our European team. To enable meaningful overlap, you’ll adjust your schedule on certain days (typically 1–2 evenings per week), balanced by flexible hours.
You’ll bring:
6+ years of hands-on CRM experience in subscription, retail or e-commerce, running a high-frequency, product-led CRM calendar and merchandising a range through CRM.
A track record of owning CRM targets and delivering profitable growth, measured on conversion, order frequency, basket size and revenue rather than opens and clicks, while protecting margin and list health.
Proven expertise in a CRM platform such as Iterable or Braze, building and sending campaigns yourself, with strong segmentation and analytical skills.
Strong copywriting and experience transforming CRM output with AI, using it to write, test and scale near-final copy at speed, with measurable results.
A proven test-and-learn approach, running A/B tests and holdouts and making decisions based on the results.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience in a meal kit, food or CPG business.
Technical skills such as Handlebars, Liquid or SQL.
Working knowledge of Australian Spam Act and ACMA requirements for email and SMS.
Experience scoping and briefing automated lifecycle journeys.
Experience working across multiple brands and ranges.
This role might not be for you if:
You wait for new tools and processes to be handed to you rather than building them yourself.
You’d rather brief copy than write it.
You prefer big quarterly campaigns over a weekly retail rhythm.
You prefer executing campaigns over owning the results.
You need perfect data and a fixed roadmap before you act.
