The role in a nutshell

We are looking for a Professional Software Engineer — Ruby / Elixir to join our Box Experience Tribe, supporting the systems behind Logistics and Complaints at Marley Spoon.

This role sits within a small team of three — two engineers and one Engineering Manager — and will focus on maintaining, improving, and scaling the services that support order creation, ERP integrations, shipper integrations, complaints handling, and automation.

Being close to the heart of our technical architecture, your work will help Marley Spoon support global operations today while building for the growth and complexity ahead.

• Play an important role in building and expanding the architecture around the full lifecycle of Marley Spoon’s Logistics and Complaints systems, from order creation to ERP integrations, shipper integrations, complaints handling, and automation.

• Help architect and build services that directly benefit our new and long-term customers, supporting Marley Spoon’s ability to scale globally for years to come.

• Write testable and readable code with performance, reliability, and maintainability in mind.

• Coach your team members and contribute to a strong engineering culture.

• Work closely with other teams and your teammates to arrive at the best possible feature implementation.

• Help evolve systems that sit at the heart of how our brands and offerings operate across markets.

What You’ll Bring

• Several years of experience in backend software engineering, ideally 4+ years.

• Professional, production-grade experience, preferably in Ruby.

• A strong testing mindset.

• Experience working on distributed architecture, or experience spanning applications across multiple markets or regions.

• Excellent communication skills.

• A drive to learn, improve yourself, and support others around you.

• A proactive and collaborative working style.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.

• Experience splitting up a monolithic application is a plus.

• Willingness to work with different tech stacks, such as Elixir and Python.

• Comfort leveraging AI tools, while keeping strong critical thinking and the ability to judge, steer, and validate agent-generated work.
