Business Development Manager
Business Development role driving growth across aged care partnerships with real social impact.
Support at Home | Provider Partnerships
Alexandria Office | Hybrid (3 days in office) | 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract | Extension subject to performance and business needs
Most BD roles have a playbook. This one doesn't — because the playbook doesn't exist yet.
You'll be the second person on the ground building Marley Spoon's Support at Home provider channel nationally. The first is already in market. Now we're doubling down.
The program is live, growing, and government-subsidised across five states — 85+ products, a proven fulfilment pathway and real traction with aged care providers. What we need now is more pipeline, more relationships, and more market presence. That's where you come in.
If building from scratch in a sector with real social impact is your thing, read on.
About the Role
Marley Spoon's Support at Home program delivers quality, government-subsidised meals to older Australians across the country. It works. Now we're scaling the provider side — and we're building the team to do it.
This is a build-and-partnership role. You'll lead B2B outreach and partnership development end-to-end, working directly with aged care providers, care managers and peak bodies to establish Marley Spoon as the go-to meal partner in the SaH space. You'll have direct access to decision-makers, fast feedback loops, and real scope to shape how this channel grows.
What You'll Do
• Lead partnership development — identifying, approaching and formalising relationships with aged care providers, peak bodies and allied health networks to establish Marley Spoon as the preferred meal partner in the SaH space
• Build and nurture relationships with peak bodies (OT associations, aged care networks) to drive referrals and advocacy
• Support our marketing team on media and PR activity — providing industry context, participating in briefings, and contributing to thought leadership in the aged care nutrition space (roughly 10–15% of the role)
• Represent Marley Spoon at industry events, webinars and provider meetings
• Track pipeline activity, conversion rates and partnership outcomes in our CRM
• Apply AI-powered solutions and workflows to accelerate outreach and reporting
What You Bring
• 3–5 years in B2B business development, sales or partnerships — ideally with exposure to aged care, health, or government-funded services
• Proven ability to build relationships from cold through to close
• Confident communicator — equally comfortable writing a tight cold email and presenting to a room of care managers
• Self-directed with strong follow-through; you don't need hand-holding to move a pipeline
• Understanding of the aged care ecosystem (SaH, HCP, NDIS) is a strong advantage, not a must-have
• Comfortable working across stakeholders — internal teams, external partners, media
What Success Looks Like in 6 Months
• Measurable growth in registered SaH providers and active care manager relationships
• Consistent pipeline activity with documented outreach and conversion tracking
• At least 2–3 media or industry placements supporting program visibility
• Active collaboration with the broader BD team to build a channel playbook that scales
Why This Role
Most BD roles sell a product. This one builds a market.
The SaH program is genuinely new territory for Marley Spoon — which means what you build here becomes the blueprint. You'll be working directly with people making real decisions, on a program that helps older Australians access quality meals through government funding.
You won't be doing it alone — there's a team forming around this. But you'll still need to be the kind of person who can run hard with limited direction.
If that combination of commercial challenge and social impact sounds like your kind of work — this is it.
