Maintenance Coordinator (Casual Contract)
At Marley Spoon, we’re on a mission to bring better cooking back to the table. Every week, we deliver thousands of fresh, flexible meal kits across Australia. None of that happens unless our equipment is running safely, reliably and efficiently.
We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Coordinator (casual contract) to join our Engineering & Automation team in Sydney. This is a working maintenance role. You will be directly involved in in-house repairs, fault finding, and day-to-day maintenance on machinery and facilities, while also coordinating contractors and managing maintenance workflows. If you like being on the floor fixing problems, not just tracking them in a system, this role is for you.
What you’ll do:
Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on production machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure.
Prioritise, action and track maintenance requests, taking ownership from identification through to resolution.
Respond to equipment breakdowns, carry out first-line repairs, and coordinate external contractors when required.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify risks, wear, faults, and improvement opportunities.
Minimise downtime by diagnosing issues quickly and applying practical, production-focused solutions.
Develop, follow, and continuously improve maintenance procedures and safe work practices.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with WHS/OHS policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Manage and update maintenance schedules, including assigning work to contractors and internal team members.
Coordinate and actively contribute to preventative maintenance programs.
Report on maintenance activities, required spare parts, consumables, and planned works under the Maintenance Plan.
Support engineering, automation, and process improvement initiatives through on-the-ground technical input.
What you’ll bring:
Proven experience in a hands-on maintenance, mechanical, or technical role in a production or industrial environment.
Confidence working directly on machinery, equipment, and hardware.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills with a practical mindset.
Ability to work independently on repairs while coordinating with contractors and internal teams.
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities.
Commitment to safety and best practice maintenance standards.
Comfortable using computer-based systems for reporting and scheduling (Excel skills are a plus).
Nice to have:
Mechanical Engineering qualification or a relevant engineering/technical background.
Why you’ll love working with us:
Discounted Marley Spoon meal kits – flexible, fresh dinners delivered to your door.
Free on-site parking for an easier commute.
A role where your technical work directly impacts safety, reliability, and production performance.
A supportive, diverse team that values practical skills and initiative.
Opportunities to develop your technical capability and grow your career.
A safe, inclusive workplace where well-being comes first.
This is a casual contract position, working 3 days per week.
If you’re looking for a role where you can roll up your sleeves, work directly on machinery, and still have ownership over how maintenance is planned and executed, this is it.
