Designer (6-Month Maternity Cover)
If you love turning strategy into clear, engaging visual stories — and you like the idea of helping people cook better and enjoy their time in the kitchen — we’d love to hear from you!
Join a food-tech business that’s reinventing how people cook at home — and help shape the stories that make people open their inbox, pause their scroll, and actually try something new in the kitchen!
The Role
For six months, you’ll step into our Central Creative Team creative team as a Designer on a full-time, fixed-term contract. You’ll report to our Design Lead and be based in Portugal or Germany (with Lisbon and Berlin as our main hubs), working in a hybrid or remote setup depending on your location.
This isn’t a passive cover role: you’ll be part of the core team bringing campaigns to life across CRM, paid social, and brand, with work that’s seen by hundreds of thousands of customers across multiple markets.
- Full-time, 6-month maternity cover within the Central Creative Team creative team
- Based in PT or DE, with hybrid or remote flexibility depending on your location
- Reporting into the Design Lead and collaborating closely with campaign, content, and performance teams
- Hands-on role where you’re shipping real work, not just “keeping things going”
- Opportunity to grow your craft in a fast-moving, international food-tech environment
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you’ll own the end-to-end design delivery for campaigns across CRM, paid social, and landing pages, with clear deadlines and performance goals. You’ll be expected to take briefs, challenge them where needed, propose strong visual directions, and ship final assets that are on-brand, on-time, and ready to perform in market.
- Lead the design execution for CRM, paid social, and landing page campaigns from brief to final files, hitting agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Turn campaign and performance goals into clear visual concepts, then translate those into concrete, ready-to-use asset sets for multiple markets and formats.
- Build, adapt, and optimize assets using Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, ensuring all outputs meet technical specs and are production-ready for digital and print.
- Proactively manage your workload in tools like Asana and Google Drive, keeping stakeholders aligned on status, priorities, and delivery dates.
- Work closely with CRM, Paid Social, and Brand leads to iterate based on feedback and performance data, regularly updating and improving creatives already in market.
What You Bring
You’re likely a mid-level designer with a few solid years behind you, comfortable owning day-to-day design work while still curious and open to feedback. Your portfolio shows that you can design for both digital and print, and you can talk about why you made certain choices — not just how things look on the surface.
- Around 2–4+ years of professional design experience (in-house or agency)
- Strong portfolio featuring email, social, and other digital work, plus some print or OOH pieces
- Confident in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma
- Comfortable creating performance-ready assets for CRM and social channels
- Bonus: experience with motion, 2D animation, or AI tools (e.g. Midjourney), but not a must
How You Work With Others
You see design as a team sport. You’re happy to pick apart a brief with a campaign manager, align with copy and video on a big push, and explain your decisions to stakeholders who don’t speak “designer.” You keep an eye on timelines, juggle several projects at once, and stay open and calm when feedback comes in from different markets.
- Collaborative, low-ego partner to CRM, Paid Social, Brand, and content teams
- Clear communicator who can explain design decisions to non-design stakeholders
- Organized and reliable when managing multiple campaigns, brands, and deadlines
- Comfortable iterating based on feedback and performance insights
- Thinks beyond “pretty visuals” to how design supports the wider customer journey and business goals
Life at Marley Spoon (for These Six Months)

- International, cross-functional environment with colleagues across PT, DE, and beyond
- Hybrid/remote-friendly setup with opportunities for in-person collaboration in Lisbon or Berlin
- A culture that values curiosity, experimentation, and constructive feedback
